Report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council (A/60/47)
Members will recall that the General Assembly held a joint debate on agenda items 9 and 117 at its 47th to 50th plenary meetings, held on 10 and 11 November 2005.
Members will recall too that the Assembly also held a joint debate on agenda items 117 and 120 at its 94th to 96th plenary meetings, held on 20 and 21 July.
The General Assembly will now take action on the draft decision contained in paragraph 17 of the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council.
May I take it that the Assembly decides to adopt the draft decision?
The draft decision was adopted.
I should like to express my sincere thanks to Ambassador Paulette Bethel of the Bahamas and Ambassador Franciscus Antonius Maria Majoor of the Netherlands, Vice-Chairpersons of the Open-ended Working Group, who so ably conducted the discussions and complex negotiations in the Working Group.
I am sure that members of the Assembly join me in extending to them our sincere appreciation.
May I take it that it is the wish of the Assembly to conclude its consideration of agenda item 117?
