Draft decision (A/62/L.44)
Members will recall that, in its resolution 62/178 of 19 December 2007, adopted under this item, the General Assembly requested the President of the General Assembly, following appropriate consultations with Member States, to draw up a list of relevant civil society representatives, other than those already included in the resolution, and to submit the list to Member States for consideration on a no-objection basis for a final decision by the Assembly.
Following the necessary consultations, the General Assembly now has before it a conference room paper, circulated as document A/62/CRP.1, containing the list of civil society representatives invited to participate in the high-level meeting, including in panel discussions. In that connection, the General Assembly also has before it a draft decision, issued as document A/62/L.44.
We shall now proceed to consider draft decision A/62/L.44. The Assembly will now take a decision on the draft decision, which is entitled "Participation of civil society representatives in the high-level meeting on a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in realizing the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS, to be convened on 10 and 11 June 2008".
May I take it that the Assembly decides to adopt the draft decision?
Draft decision A/62/L.44 was adopted.
The General Assembly has thus concluded this stage of its consideration of agenda item 44.
